When two champions love each other very much… well, that actually has nothing to do with what we’re talking about here! This is about education. And in Champions Ascension, breeding is the process of combining the DNA of two Champions to create a new champion! While the entire process is still shrouded in mystery, we have learned how the new Champion’s features are determined.

Although it’s not expected to be available until next year (2023), we recently received a Champions Ascension breeding guide. And while some details are still unknown, we’re learning quite a bit about what to expect at the other end of the breeding ponds!

Breeding in Champions Ascension follows a basic format. Combine two champions together and a new champion will emerge! But the result is not random. As you might expect, the properties of the two selected DNA factors have an effect. Champions have a number of attributes, broken down into families, cores, parts, and cosmetics. This is how they are determined when making small masters.

Short breeding guide

Family and Core Essence are simple parts. Each is randomly selected from one of the parents. If the parents share the same family or nuclear essence, their offspring will be the same. There is no randomness in these traits.

Champion’s individual parts are where things get a little more complicated. Each part has a dominant gene (as seen in Champion) and two hidden, recessive genes. When selecting inherited genes, the system assigns a basic weight of 40 to dominant genes, 7.5 to recessive gene 1 and 2.5 to recessive gene 2. These weights are modified by the purity bonuses that start when a part has the same essence as a Master.

example probability table

When the system selects a dominant gene, t removes that gene from the probability table and selects two others for recessive genes. Each recessive gene has a 10% chance of mutating into a random gene that is different from both parents. So even the same two Champions repeatedly breeding can introduce some genetic drift into their bloodline.

The team promises that the recessive genes will be displayed on the website before Breeding opens, so Champion owners have all the information available when selecting parent pairs.

And finally, every Champion comes with cosmetics like hairstyles and piercings. These are randomly selected and may not be related to parents in any way (“I’m not my parents!”)

So there it is. Lots of good information, although we still don’t know about additional costs, breeding cooldowns, or how long it will take for a new Champion to emerge from the pools. Hopefully we will get this information soon!

What is Champions Ascension?

Champions Ascension is an upcoming gladiator fighting game built in a virtual world. While 3D combat was the original selling point and the focus of the game, Champions Ascension features an open world. One where players can walk around and interact, it also includes crafting, refining, land ownership, an in-game marketplace, a stake system, mini-games and more!

Champions Ascension organized the first sale of Prime Eternals in early 2022. Since there are only 7,622 Prime Eternals in existence, it offers many benefits that other characters don’t get. This includes guaranteed country mints, special breeding options, early access, and the recently released pet NFT. Prime Eternals are generative NFTs with various properties that act as in-game characters and profile picture NFTs.

The game is still in its early stages, but is expected to release a global demo later this year. If you’re reading this before September 12, 200, you still have a chance to sign up for the “Slice of Massina” alpha preview, which is expected to be released later this year.
