The Cardano network has processed more than 50 million transactions in total, which marks a new milestone for Cardano. According to Cardanoscan.io, more than 50,033,448 transactions have been completed so far.

In early June, when the Vasil update was announced, the Cardano Foundation put the number of transactions at 42.5 million, which U.Today reported.

Now the number has increased by almost 8 million. The Vasil hard fork was originally supposed to be released at the end of June, but was then postponed due to the need for additional testing.

In late June, Input Output, the builder of Cardano’s blockchain, issued a statement announcing the start of the Vasil network update countdown following the release of Vasil node 1.35.0. The IOG team connected the test network to the Vasil functionality on July 3rd and thus testing continued.

The Vasil hard fork is scheduled to go online on September 22 and is expected to significantly increase transaction volume.

Vasil now in the last mile

Vasili’s update is on the last mile. As U.Today reports, there are important dates to note. First, on September 19th, the mainnet update proposal is expected to be submitted to trigger the hard fork event on September 22nd, which will also initiate the transition from Alonzo to Babbage. It may take five days for Vasili’s ability to be available on the mainnet, as according to IOG, Vasili’s capacity will be available at the start of Season 366 on September 27th. The Plutus V2 cost model is also available on the main web today.

In the recent IOG ecosystem readiness report, Vasil node candidate 1.35.3 has already generated 98% of mainnet blocks, indicating that the node readiness meter has already been filled. In addition, seven of the twelve largest exchanges by liquidity, i.e. Binance, Upbit, MEXC, Bitrue, AAX, WhiteBIT and BKEX, have announced Vasili’s readiness.
