The US Department of Justice plans to redouble its efforts to protect Americans from the illegal use of cryptocurrencies

The Department of Justice spread the word that it plans to try harder to fight the illegal use of cryptocurrency assets to protect the US population.

With this in mind, a special network focused on digital assets is being created.

According to Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, the role of cryptocurrencies in the global financial system is growing and strengthening. Therefore, law enforcement agencies plan to cooperate with various ministries to prevent the illegal use of these new technologies.

These actions have followed an order issued by the White House in March, which aims to protect investors and consumers, ensure the stability of the financial system and disrupt illegal financial activities.

According to Assistant Kenneth A. Polite Jr., the DAC (Digital Asset Coordinators) network is being created so that the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team remains in the best position to detect and combat criminals who utilize blockchain and crypto technology. The report released by the department examines how criminals use crypto and DLT technologies, the problems this technology raises for law enforcement agencies, and so on.

The newly created DAC network consists of more than 150 federal prosecutors drawn from US attorneys’ offices and is led by the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team.

The DAC trains prosecutors in the field of digital assets and provides them with the technical knowledge needed to investigate cryptocurrency-related crimes. The first meeting of the DAC was scheduled for September 8.
