According to the updates published on the page ShibaSwap official Twitter account, the BONE strike has officially been suspended as the current supply has exceeded 230 million.

“BONE has a maximum supply of 250 million and will always remain so,” it added. In June, the community decided to stop all BONE farming after 230 million were minted to save and secure the remaining 20 million for Shibarium validators.

The upcoming Layer 2 Shibarium will require 20 million BONEs to be secured for the protocol to function, which is how rewards for validators and gas will be reserved. It is also known that agents are rewarded in BONE for their efforts and for fulfilling their assigned roles on the blockchain.

Buoyed by positive news of IPOs and ecosystem events, BONE gained the most in August, ending the month with a positive gain of 183%. At press time, BONE was trading down 2% to $1.84.

On the threshold of a new phase?

After the BONE strike is finished, the question now becomes “What is now available as rewards for everyone but validators?” Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama answered this in a recent blog post introducing TREAT.

The upcoming reward token, TREAT, will soon enter the ecosystem and will be released as part of the evolution of the SHIB ecosystem. Kusama stated that TREAT has been quietly developed because the team didn’t want to rush a new brand into the ecosystem before its use case was defined and outlined.

TREAT receives rewards from the Metaverse and blockchain version of the Shiba Collectible Card Game and helps balance SHIB, the stable coin of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. SHIB’s lead developer stated, “This is a huge step in the final descent of this massive project into full decentralization,” as TREAT would greatly benefit ecosystem owners.
