The venue just faced a massive loss. With all the exciting news flooding our feeds, it was safe to assume that some negativity would also come our way, but we didn’t expect it to be this bad.

From 21.9.2022, a popular streaming platform Twitch announced ban on gambling. Twitch has banned the sharing of links and referral code for some time now, but users have found ways around these rules. This policy violation has led to the unfortunate banning of gambling streams.

While we prohibit the sharing of links or referral codes to any site that contains slots, roulette or dice games, we have seen some people circumvent these rules and put our community at potential harm.

Statement from Twitch

Gambling streams have long been a contentious topic in the Twitch community, and many top streamers have spoken out against the risks of exposing viewers, especially children, to this content.

The policy will be updated from October 18, 2022. While sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games are banned, Twitch still allows users to stream from websites that offer sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker. Some argue that poker and sports betting are as bad as craps and roulette, but Twitch has made up its mind.

Twitch said it would allow gambling streams from sites licensed in the United States or other jurisdictions that provide adequate consumer protections. Many wonder if Stake.us is one of the approved sites, and Stake.com was specifically mentioned in the ban notice along with other familiar names.

These sites include Stake.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com and Roobet.com. However, we may recognize others as we progress.

Statement from Twitch

While Drake, Trainwreck, and xQc may be particularly disappointed by this announcement, some community members in the comments shared their joy at the policy update. These were some of the most relevant or famous comments.

Some comments highlighted the hypocrisy of allowing “adult content” channels to continue streaming, especially after the gimmick was banned for just a week, while gambling was banned due to its harm to children and the economically disadvantaged.

While this is sad news for the casino and crypto casino industry, Twitch has the right to ban any content it deems to be dangerous. This certainly makes marketing and influencer deals much more difficult for casinos, but they will likely now find more innovative ways to reach their target audience. This is not the end of cryptocasinos, but an obstacle that must be overcome.
