Chain signs deal with Kraft Sports + Entertainment, Web3 company with New England Revolution and NFL’s New England Patriots

On Thursday, blockchain and Web3 company Chain announced a multi-year deal with Kraft Sports + Entertainment, led by Robert and Jonathan Kraft. Founded in 1998, the company provides operational services to the NFL’s New England Patriots, MLS’ New England Revolution charter club and Gillette Stadium.

The Web3 chain of companies reveals a multi-year partnership with the New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are an AFC East division National Football League (NFL) team originally founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots. It joined the NFL in 1970, and the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers won the most Super Bowls of any NFL team.

Chain is a blockchain company backed by Visa and Citigroup, and the company recently worked with Tiffany & Co. and the Nftiff project. By working with Kraft, Chain “will work hand-in-hand to develop cutting-edge Web3 experiences while leveraging Chain’s award-winning suite of products and services.”

“We are proud to partner with Kraft Sports + Entertainment to envision the future of Web3 for Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution,” Chain CEO Deepak Thapliyal said in a statement Thursday. “Our team is excited to help Kraft Sports + Entertainment build cutting-edge experiences for stadium visitors using Chain’s proprietary blockchain technology.”

Founded in 2014, Chain is a blockchain-based technology company that has so far raised $40 million from Fiserv, Nasdaq, Orange, Visa, Khosla Ventures, Pantera Capital, Capital One, and Citigroup. Stellar bought the chain in 2018 and bought again in 2020.

The deal between Kraft Sports + Entertainment and Chain follows several sports deals that have been made over the past year. For example, in mid-April, Blockchain.com signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys, and at the end of August, the company signed a contract with the Cowboys’ star quarterback, Dak Prescott.

Additionally, NFL players have been involved in the blockchain and crypto industry in one way or another. Tom Brady, Saquon Barkley, Russell Okung, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Jones, Rob ‘Gronk’ Gronkowski, and Odell Beckham Jr. have either been paid in crypto, made ads, or supported the NFT project. Murray Kohl, vice president of sales for Kraft Sports + Entertainment, said his company has “always strived to be a leader in innovation.”

“Being the first professional sports team to have a website and creating the first nightly Internet show for the world’s longest continuously running podcast, we have embraced the opportunities that technology has presented to us and our fans,” Kohl said. on Thursday. “Together with Chain, we strive to innovate in the same way as with Web3. Our fans can connect with the Patriots and Revolution in ways that have never been possible before,” added the Kraft Sports + Entertainment executive.
